Most people don’t realize that you can do a river cruise in Africa and its an amazing way to see the animals in their habitat along the water.
I’ve done the Ama Waterways “Stars of South Africa” itinerary which takes in the beautiful city of Cape Town, then 4 nights on the Chobe River in Botswana/Namibia where you will see more animals that you could ever imagine. A stop in Zimbabwe to see the thunderous Victoria Falls was memorable, then a quick city stop to see the highlights in Johannesburg and finishing up with a land safari in the Kruger National Park area. It truly was a bucket-list trip of a lifetime and I loved Africa so much that I’m now planning a small group to Kenya/Tanzania which will include a gorilla trek to Rwanda. There is just something so magical about seeing the animals in their own habitat.
Here is the video from my journey

Asia is another destination where river cruising is becoming a very popular way to tour an individual country.
In China – I did an very interesting river cruise on the Yangtze
In Vietnam/Cambodia – I started this itinerary in Ho Chi Minh City and headed out on the marvelous Mekong

Another itinerary that the major river cruise lines are investing in for 2025 is Egypt and the Nile River.
I was actually supposed to do this trip in 2020 but of course with Covid, it was cancelled 🙁
